LeBron James at 40: Could Play 5-7 More Years, Stats Show

LeBron James, now 40, has played 22 seasons in the NBA, tying Vince Carter for the second-longest career. He’s the youngest to reach scoring milestones from 1,000 to 40,000 points. This season, he averages 23.5 points, 9.0 assists, and 7.9 rebounds per game. James has pondered retirement but believes he could play at a high level for another five to seven years. He’s played in 28 of the Lakers’ 31 games. On opening night, he shared the court with his son, Bronny James, whom the Lakers drafted with the No. 55 pick. The Lakers are just one game out of the No. 4 spot in the Western Conference. James aims to win a fifth championship but is unsure if the team can do so this season. He plans to finish his career with the Lakers.
