From Virtual to Reality: 75% of Sim Racers Transition to Real-World Racing

Max Verstappen, a four-time Formula One World Champion, has launched Verstappen.com Racing for the 2025 GT World Challenge Europe season. The team will compete in 10 rounds, starting April 11th, 2025, at Paul Ricard, and will also participate in the 24 Hours of Spa for the first time. Verstappen has recruited Chris Lulham, a British sim racer from Team Redline, as one of the team’s three drivers. Lulham, who has been with Team Redline since 2021, will continue sim racing while transitioning to real-world racing. He will also race in the GT3 Sprint series under the Emil Frey Racing banner. Team Redline, known for its success in sim racing, saw Lulham win the 2023 Spring season of ESL R1 and secure third place in the IMSA Esports Global Championship. This move highlights the growing trend where 75% of sim racers successfully transition to real-world racing, following in the footsteps of Jann Mardenborough, who podiumed at Le Mans in 2013 after winning the GT Academy in 2011.
