A Special Mention in this category went to “Flophouse America,” directed by Monica Strmdahl, focusing on a 12-year-old boy and his family’s struggles in Florida. The F:ACT Award, valued at 5,000, was won by Mstyslav Chernov’s “2000 Meters to Andriivka,” which documents Ukrainian troops’ efforts to recapture a village. A Special Mention in this category was given to “The Perfect Neighbor” by Geeta Gandbhir, utilizing police footage to explore a 2023 shooting case in Florida. The HUMAN:RIGHTS Award, also worth 5,000, was awarded to “9-Month Contract” by Ketevan Vashagashvili, examining the impact of unregulated surrogacy in Georgia. A Special Mention went to “The Encampments,” directed by Michael T. Workman and Kei Pritsker, focusing on student activism at Columbia University. Additional awards included the NORDIC:DOX Award (5,000) to “WALLS (Akinni Inuk)” by Nina Paninnguaq Skydsbjerg & Sofie Rrdam, and a Special Mention to “THE NICEST MEN ON EARTH” by Josefine Exner & Sebastian Gerdes. The NEXT:WAVE Award (5,000) was given to “Adobe of Dawn” by Kristina Shtubert, with a Special Mention to “Who Witnessed the Temples Fall” by Luca Selva. The NEW:VISION Award (5,000) went to “RAMALLAH, PALESTINE, DECEMBER 2018” by Juliette Le Monniyer, and the INTER:ACTIVE exhibition award, including a package of industry benefits and a 1,000 cash prize, was awarded to “CONSTANTINOPOLIAD” by Sister Sylvester & Nadah El Shazly, with a Special Mention to “The Garden Says” by Uri Kranot, Michelle Kranot, and Sara Topse.
