86.2% Snap Count: Mathieu’s Lowest Since 2016 Amid Contract Rework

Tyrann Mathieu and Cameron Jordan have agreed to new deals with the New Orleans Saints, both involving pay cuts. Mathieu’s new contract is incentive-based, featuring playing-time bonuses. Previously, Mathieu took a pay cut in 2024 for an additional year in 2025, which guaranteed him a $1 million roster bonus this year and $2.5 million of his 2025 base salary. Last season, Mathieu’s snap count fell to 86.2%, the lowest since 2016, due to various injuries. Jordan, who has missed only one game in his career, had been set to earn $12.5 million this year, with $1.5 million already guaranteed. His 2023 extension guaranteed him $15 million, and a restructure last year pushed his 2025 cap number to $20 million. This marks the first time Jordan has taken a pay cut in his Saints career. Both players are committed to staying with the team, with Jordan entering his 15th season and Mathieu his fourth.

Matheson played 27 minutes tonight: • -2 • 3 giveaways Habs worst player again. No accountability, no hard coaching. All politics because Kent Hughes was his agent.

Not too impressed by those snaps. Looks pretty easy to bull rush, gives up on plays when they are still going on, feet aren’t great to change direction if they go inside. Unfortunately it looks like another stopgap. But that’s what you get when you sign a back up to start.
