75% of Femtech Funding: Willow and Elvie’s $440M Journey

Willow, a San Francisco-based company known for its wearable breast pumps, has acquired British femtech competitor Elvie. Willow recently received FDA 510(k) clearance for its Willow Generation 3 Breast Pump in October last year. Elvie, founded in 2013, offers breast pumps, pelvic floor care, and the smart bouncer and bassinet Elvie Rise. Elvie had raised over $186 million and was valued at $241 million before falling into administration due to financial difficulties. Willow has raised approximately $254 million, including a $55 million Series C funding round in 2020. The acquisition aims to scale their maternal health platforms. Both companies were involved in an ongoing patent infringement lawsuit at the time of the acquisition. Willow launched Ema, a conversational AI tool for maternal health support, and introduced its Find Your Flow Feeding Kit exclusively at Target stores nationwide. Elvie launched the Elvie Rise at CES this year, a smart bouncer that transforms into a bassinet and provides sleep pattern insights.
