Supercentenarians, individuals aged 110 and above, exhibit a lower incidence of seven specific diseases compared to the general Medicare population. These diseases include Alzheimer’s, heart failure, diabetes, depression, prostate cancer, hip fracture, and chronic kidney disease. Conversely, supercentenarians have a higher prevalence of four conditions: arthritis, cataracts, osteoporosis, and glaucoma. These four conditions, while not directly linked to mortality, significantly impact quality of life. These statistics were presented at the 2012 Gordon Research Conference on the Biology of Aging in Ventura, California.
