14% Lower Risk: Diabetes Pill Revolutionizes Heart Health!

A groundbreaking study revealed that Novo Nordisk’s diabetes pill, Rybelsus, reduces the risk of cardiovascular-related death, heart attack, and stroke by 14% compared to a placebo. This significant finding emerged from a late-stage trial involving over 9,600 patients aged 50 and older, who were monitored for an average of nearly four years. The trial included patients with diabetes and established heart disease, with or without chronic kidney disease. By the end of the study, 12% of Rybelsus users and 13.8% of placebo users experienced the aforementioned cardiovascular events. Rybelsus specifically lowered the risk of non-fatal heart attacks by 26%, non-fatal strokes by 12%, and cardiovascular-related death by 7%. The results were consistent across various patient subgroups. While gastrointestinal side effects were common, they rarely led to discontinuation of the medication. This data supports Rybelsus as a promising new treatment option for managing both diabetes and cardiovascular health.
