61% of ‘Nine Bodies’ Filmed in Fake Jungle: Here’s Why

Eric McCormack, 61, stars in the new MGM+ series “Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue,” where nine survivors of a plane crash in a Mexican jungle are mysteriously killed off one by one. The show, set to premiere on March 2, was filmed in the Canary Islands, not Mexico. Despite the setting, the actual filming location was volcanic, not jungle-like, leading to the creation of an artificial jungle set. This set was so realistic that it developed its own ecosystem, with bugs appearing naturally. The series involves characters with hidden secrets, including McCormack’s character, Kevin, who has a traumatic past. Filming challenges included a dramatic plane crash scene shot on the first day, and a physically demanding scene where a character falls off a mountain in 100-degree heat. The cast bonded over dinners, enhancing the realism of their stranded characters.
