529 Million Reasons Why Pennsylvania’s Gaming Industry is Booming

In January 2025, Pennsylvania’s gaming revenue soared to $529 million, marking a 10.88% increase from the previous year. This impressive growth spans across various gaming sectors, including 17 brick-and-mortar casinos, online casino games, and sports betting. Online gaming led the surge with a 40.52% revenue increase, reaching $210.1 million. Retail slot machines also saw a rise, generating $187.8 million, up 4.6% from $179.5 million in January 2024. Parx Casino in Bensalem was the top earner among casinos, with $29.9 million in revenue. Pennsylvania hosts over 67,000 skill game terminals, the highest number in the U.S., contributing to the state’s gaming accessibility. Retail table gaming revenue grew slightly by 1.46% to $73.7 million. In contrast, sports betting revenue fell by 26.3% to $51.5 million. Despite this decline, Pennsylvania remains a key player in sports betting with nearly a dozen online sportsbooks and 17 retail locations.
