30 Laid Off in September: Gamurs Group’s Layoff Statistics Shock the Industry

Gamurs Group, a media conglomerate owning sites like Destructoid and Prima Games, has laid off numerous employees recently. In September 2024, the company cut 30 positions across Dot Esports, Destructoid, and Twinfinite. Further layoffs occurred at Destructoid in February 2025, followed by cuts at The Mary Sue and The Escapist in March. The latest round of layoffs affected staff such as Christian Smith, Chris Jecks, Thomas Tallentire, Jonna Turner, and Anne Banks. Some employees, like Smith, were let go just three months into their jobs. Additionally, Gamurs Group shut down PC Invasion, a site founded in 2015, redirecting it to Prima Games. Over 1,000 articles contributed by Anyka Pettigrew to PC Invasion are now gone, with some content reappearing on Prima Games.
