According to a recent study, approximately 25% of the US population experiences mental health issues annually. This staggering statistic highlights the prevalence of mental health concerns in the country. The study, which analyzed data from over 40,000 participants, found that women were more likely to experience mental health issues than men, with 27% of women and 22% of men reporting symptoms.
The most common mental health issues reported included anxiety disorders (14%), depression (12%), and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) (6%). Notably, the study found that individuals aged 18-24 were more likely to experience mental health issues than those in other age groups. Additionally, participants with lower incomes and those who had experienced trauma or abuse were also more likely to report mental health concerns.
The study’s findings underscore the importance of addressing mental health issues in the US population. With one-quarter of Americans experiencing mental health problems each year, it is crucial that we prioritize access to mental health services and reduce stigma surrounding mental illness.

Mentally I have declined so much over the last 2 years. From a sad but manageable mental state to daily suicidal thoughts and a depressive “episode” which has been going on 8 months now. I actually don’t know how or if I’m going to make it to graduation.
