The University of the South has partnered with International Literary Properties (ILP) to promote the legacy of Tennessee Williams, a renowned playwright and author. This collaboration marks an important chapter in the management of Williams’ works, which have generated significant revenue since 1996.
According to ILP, Williams wrote 39 plays, including iconic works like A Streetcar Named Desire and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. These plays have been adapted into stage productions, film, and television, resulting in an estimated $1 billion in revenue. Additionally, Williams won two Pulitzer Prizes for his work, one for each of these plays.
The partnership between the University of the South and ILP aims to further promote Williams’ legacy through cross-media projects and stage productions. With 11 screenplays under his belt, Williams’ works continue to captivate audiences worldwide.

$20 billion deployed this quickly makes more sense when you know how insanely big each deal can be:
• Bruce Springsteen: $500M for catalog rights
• Bob Dylan: $300M+ for publishing rights
• Justin Timberlake: $100M for song catalog
How does this make business-sense though?
