Suns Triple Their Draft Picks in Blockbuster Trade with Jazz

The Phoenix Suns have significantly bolstered their draft capital by trading their 2031 first-round pick to the Utah Jazz for three first-round picks. This strategic move triples the Suns’ first-round draft assets, providing them with more flexibility to enhance their roster. The Suns acquired the least favorable first-round pick in 2025 from either the Cleveland Cavaliers, Minnesota Timberwolves, or the Jazz (protected); in 2027 from the same trio; and in 2029 from Cleveland, Minnesota (protected), or Utah. This trade breaks up Phoenix’s lone tradable first-round pick into three, unlocking their next six drafts. The Suns, currently 10th in the Western Conference with a 21-21 record, are aiming to build a contender around stars Devin Booker and Kevin Durant. Meanwhile, the Jazz, who have been stockpiling picks since trading Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell in 2022, now possess 11 first-round picks over the next seven years, including the unprotected 2031 pick from Phoenix.
