Nurkic’s 9-Game Bench Stint: A Statistical Insight into Suns’ Center Rotation

Jusuf Nurkic, Phoenix Suns center, has not played in the last nine games, including a recent 119-109 win over the Washington Wizards. Nurkic, who started 23 games this season, was moved to the bench on January 6, marking his first time not starting since the 2016-17 season. He averages 8.6 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. Coach Mike Budenholzer has utilized three other centers in his rotation, with Nick Richards starting the past three games and contributing 20 points and 19 rebounds in the recent win. Rookie Oso Ighodaro has also seen bench minutes. Nurkic, who was part of a three-team trade before the 2023-24 season, started 76 games last year, averaging 10.9 points and 11 rebounds. Despite his current situation, Nurkic believes he will remain with the Suns past the February 6 trade deadline.
