OpenAI has launched Operator, an AI agent capable of performing online tasks like booking tickets or ordering groceries. This web app uses a new model, the Computer-Using Agent (CUA), built on top of OpenAI’s multimodal large language model, GPT-4o. Operator reportedly outperforms similar tools from competitors like Anthropic and Google DeepMind by a significant margin. The introduction of Operator signifies a new battleground in AI development, focusing on automating computer-based tasks. Meanwhile, in Louisiana, a $6.8 billion project aims to elevate homes to combat the effects of climate change, with the region having experienced five climate-related disasters in a 10-month period between 2020 and 2021. This effort is part of a broader strategy to adapt to rising sea levels and frequent storms, even as some residents consider relocating inland.
