The initiative was spurred by the recognition that previous methods often overlooked group differences, potentially exacerbating AI bias. While these benchmarks provide a better way to judge AI fairness, implementing solutions to fix these biases might require additional techniques. The benchmarks have shown a potential 20% improvement in fairness when applied to existing AI models.
