Jimmy Butler’s Trade Request: 6-Time All-Star Seeks New Team

Jimmy Butler, a six-time NBA All-Star, prefers a trade from the Miami Heat before the NBA Trade Deadline on February 6. Butler, who has not formally requested a trade, is open to joining teams like the Phoenix Suns, Golden State Warriors, Dallas Mavericks, and Houston Rockets. His contract with the Heat includes $49 million for this season and a $52 million player option for 2025-26, which he intends to decline to become a free agent in July.The Heat, currently sixth in the Eastern Conference, have been approached by multiple teams interested in Butler, but they have not shown urgency in trade talks. This season, Butler averages 18.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.9 assists. His teams have made the playoffs in 12 of his 13 seasons, including five straight with Miami, where he led them to two NBA Finals and one Eastern Conference Finals. The Heat have recently focused on building around Bam Adebayo, who signed a three-year, $166 million extension, and Tyler Herro, who is having a career season.
