Long-haul international flights are becoming more affordable in 2025. According to Hopper, flights from the U.S. to Asia are down 11% this year, averaging $1,087, with a 6% increase in capacity. Europe flights have dropped 6% to $754. South America fares are down 4% to $685, while Mexico and Central America flights are up 9% to $469. However, domestic U.S. ticket prices are rising due to cautious capacity growth and aircraft delivery delays. Increased airline capacity and stabilized demand post-COVID have led to these price drops. Japan has seen a nearly 50% surge in international visitors, reaching close to 33.4 million in the first 11 months of 2024. Kayak reports that flights to Asia are the cheapest in three years, with significant interest in Tokyo, Sapporo, and Osaka. Caribbean destinations like Dominica, Barbados, and St. Lucia also offer lower fares, down 21% and 17% respectively. Business class searches are up 19% over last year.
