Houston scored the last nine points in just 33 seconds to secure the victory. Duke’s star freshman, Cooper Flagg, played a crucial role in the final moments. With Duke trailing by one, Flagg missed a critical 12-foot jumper with 17 seconds left. Earlier, Flagg committed an over-the-back foul on Houston’s J’Wan Roberts, leading to two successful free throws that gave Houston a 68-67 lead. Flagg finished the game with 27 points, shooting 8-for-19 from the field. Duke’s center, Khaman Maluach, had a challenging night, failing to grab a rebound in over 21 minutes and ending with a plus-minus of -20.
