This tool, powered by an optimized version of OpenAI’s o3 reasoning model, can delve into vast amounts of data, including text, images, and PDFs, to produce detailed reports. Deep Research can handle a wide array of topics, from scientific studies to personalized product recommendations. It can complete tasks in tens of minutes that would take humans several hours. The agent uses chain of thought reinforcement-learning methods, similar to those used in developing the o1 model, but with a broader focus. Despite its capabilities, Deep Research can occasionally provide incorrect information, though at a lower rate than ChatGPT. It’s compute-intensive, requiring significant power for longer research queries. Currently, it’s available to Pro tier subscribers, with plans to expand to Plus, Team, and Enterprise users.
