Shein Conducts Over 2 Million Safety Tests Amid London IPO Push

Shein, the fast-fashion giant, has conducted over 2 million product safety tests last year. The company is preparing for a public listing in London. It uses industry-leading labs like Bureau Veritas and Intertek for these tests. Shein requires documentation for items like toys, baby products, medical devices, and electronics from its vendors. The company also terminated over 260 sellers on its marketplace for not meeting compliance requirements. This comes after Shein recalled more than 300 hair dryer brushes in the U.S. due to an electrocution or shock hazard. No injuries were reported, and refunds are being offered. Shein’s efforts to demonstrate its commitment to product safety and sustainability are part of its charm offensive as it seeks to win over U.K. lawmakers. However, its general counsel in Europe, Yinan Zhu, evaded questions about the company’s supply chain during a British parliamentary hearing.
