AI Has Been Part of Our Lives for Over 40 Years!

Since 1979, AI has been subtly integrated into our daily lives, starting with the spell checker. By the mid-1990s, these tools were so common that we no longer considered them cutting-edge. Today, AI encompasses a broad range of technologies, which can be categorized into left-brain (logic, reasoning, language, and analytical skills) and right-brain (creativity, spatial comprehension, and intuitive thought) tools. Left-brain AI includes natural language processing, machine learning, and predictive analytics, all driven by statistics and probabilities. Right-brain AI, like ChatGPT, uses pattern matching, statistics, and probabilities on a massive scale to generate text, but it lacks true reasoning or comprehension. Despite their sophistication, these tools can produce errors, making human fact-checking essential. AI tools should be used to enhance human creativity and productivity, not replace it.
