According to recent studies published in Nature, small neural networks have been found to accurately predict behavior in various species, including mice, rats, monkeys, and humans. One study, led by Marcelo Mattar, demonstrated that these tiny networks can be surprisingly accurate, achieving a remarkable 93% accuracy in predicting slot machine choices.
The study transformed the Llama 3.1 AI model into a “foundation model” of human cognition, fine-tuned with data from 160 psychology experiments to create Centaur. This neural network was able to predict behavior by analyzing patterns and relationships within the data.
