$85 Billion to Raise: Spectrum Auctioning Boosts Government Revenue

The recent legislation has brought significant changes to various government programs and initiatives. One notable aspect is the allocation of $85 billion through spectrum auctioning, a move expected to boost government revenue.

In terms of Medicaid and nutrition programs, the bill reduces funding by an estimated 5%. This decrease affects approximately 12 million individuals who rely on these programs for healthcare and food assistance.

The legislation also increases immigration enforcement funding by $1.4 billion, with a focus on border security and defense spending. Additionally, it extends 2017 tax cuts, which are set to expire in 2026.

Other notable allocations include $257 million for the Kennedy Center restoration and security, as well as $40 million for the National Garden of American Heroes. This project aims to honor 250 individuals who have made significant contributions to American history.

Tax changes also take center stage, with a proposed limit on tax deductions set at $100,000 for singles and $200,000 for married couples. The current limit stands at $16,000. These changes aim to benefit highly compensated employees and charitable giving initiatives.
