113 Killed, 255 Injured: Shocking Statistics from Dominican Nightclub Tragedy

In a devastating incident, the roof of a nightclub in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, collapsed, killing at least 113 people and injuring 255 others. The tragedy occurred around 1 a.m. during a merengue concert at the Jet Set nightclub. Among the deceased were former MLB players Octavio Dotel and Tony Blanco, as well as Nelsy Cruz, the governor of Monte Cristi province. Dotel, aged 51, had a notable MLB career spanning 15 years with 13 teams, recording 109 saves and a 3.78 ERA. Blanco, 43, played 56 MLB games in 2005 with the Washington Nationals. Rescue efforts continued more than 24 hours after the collapse, with crews working tirelessly to find survivors amidst the rubble.
