Nvidia has shifted its AI chip production to the US, commissioning over one million square feet of manufacturing space in Arizona and Texas. This marks the first time Nvidia will manufacture AI chips and build supercomputers on US soil. The company has begun producing its Blackwell chips at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co’s (TSMC) facilities in Phoenix. Previously, Nvidia’s AI chips were exclusively manufactured in Taiwan. Nvidia is also setting up supercomputer manufacturing plants in Texas, partnering with Foxconn in Houston and Wistron in Dallas. Mass production is expected to ramp up within 12 to 15 months. For chip packaging and testing, Nvidia collaborates with Amkor and SPIL in Arizona. This move strengthens Nvidia’s supply chain and boosts resiliency to meet the growing demand for AI chips and supercomputers.
