The Milwaukee Brewers set a new franchise record by stealing nine bases in just four innings during their 14-1 victory over the Athletics. This achievement surpassed their previous record of eight stolen bases set on August 29, 1992, against Toronto. Remarkably, six of these steals happened in the first inning alone, marking the highest number of stolen bases by any team in an inning since the expansion era began in 1961. The Brewers were the first team to steal six bases in an inning since the New York Giants did so on August 26, 1919. Brice Turang led the charge with three steals, while Sal Frelick contributed two. Christian Yelich, William Contreras, Rhys Hoskins, and Caleb Durbin each stole one base. Durbin’s steal in the fourth inning broke the franchise record. The Brewers capitalized on their speed, scoring four runs in the first inning with the help of two hits, a balk, and two throwing errors.
