8-0 Start: Dodgers Make History with Unbeaten Streak

The Los Angeles Dodgers have started the season with an unprecedented 8-0 record, surpassing the 1933 New York Yankees’ record for the longest winning streak to begin a season by a reigning champion. Shohei Ohtani played a pivotal role in this historic run, hitting a walk-off home run against the Atlanta Braves, securing a 6-5 victory. This season, Ohtani has hit three home runs and boasts a 1.126 OPS. The Dodgers have already achieved two walk-offs and six comeback wins. Meanwhile, the Braves struggle with a 0-7 record, a start from which no team has ever recovered to reach the playoffs. In the National League West, the Dodgers lead with their perfect record, followed by the San Diego Padres at 7-0 and the San Francisco Giants at 5-1. This marks the first time in the divisional era that an entire division has combined for at least 25 wins and no more than seven losses. Additionally, this season is only the fifth in major league history to feature multiple teams starting 7-0 or better, and the first since 2003.
