$7 Million Stolen in Daring Cross-Chain Hack: The Shocking Statistics

KiloEx, a decentralized exchange, lost approximately $7 million due to an attack exploiting a vulnerability in its price oracle system. The attacker manipulated asset prices across multiple blockchain networks, including Base, BNB Chain, and Taiko. In one transaction alone, the attacker netted $3.12 million. The exploit involved using Tornado Cash to fund a wallet and executing a series of transactions that tricked the system into believing false prices. KiloEx has since suspended operations and is working with partners to trace the stolen funds and blacklist the attacker’s wallet. The platform offered the hacker 10% of the stolen amount as a bounty if they returned 90% of the funds. This incident adds to a history of similar attacks, with Mango Markets losing $100 million in 2022 and Cream Finance suffering $130 million in losses in 2021.
