Scout Motors, a revived American brand under Volkswagen, has garnered over 50,000 refundable reservation deposits for its upcoming electric pickups and SUVs. The vehicles, set to launch in 2027, include the Terra pickup truck and the Traveler SUV, both available as all-electric or extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs). About 70% of the reservations are for the Traveler SUV. The EREV models promise over 500 miles of range, while the all-electric versions offer up to 350 miles. Scout’s CEO, Scott Keogh, expressed satisfaction with the reservation numbers, highlighting the positive market response. The company is investing in a $2 billion factory in South Carolina, aiming for an annual production capacity of 200,000 vehicles. Scout plans to use batteries from a VW joint venture in Canada and software from a $5.8 billion deal between Rivian and VW.
