Channel 4’s zombie comedy horror series, ‘Generation Z,’ has been canceled after just one season. Despite high expectations and a strong cast including Sue Johnston and Robert Lindsay, the show only managed to attract a modest audience. The series, which aired on Channel 4, was set in the fictional town of Dambury where an army truck mishap led to a chemical leak, turning elderly care home residents into zombies. It aimed to explore themes of intergenerational justice and community breakdown. However, with only 50% of potential viewers tuning in, the show failed to resonate with audiences. Channel 4’s content boss, Ian Katz, had previously highlighted the series at the Edinburgh TV Festival, but it did not secure a second season. The network is now shifting its focus, with new comedy projects in the pipeline.
