Kirsten Storms, a staple of General Hospital since 2005, is taking an extended leave from the show to relocate to Tennessee. This departure is not unique; statistics reveal that one in five soap opera stars take a break from their roles at some point. According to a recent study, 21% of soap opera actors have taken a hiatus from their shows, with the average duration being around six months.
Storms’ absence will be filled by Paggi, who will appear as Maxie Jones on July 30 and August 13, while pre-taped scenes featuring Storms will air on August 18. The actress has promised an “incredible” storyline upon her return to Port Charles later this year.
Meanwhile, Allison Lanier is leaving The Young and the Restless after three years of playing Summer Newman.
