Michelle Mack, a 54-year-old California woman, has been sentenced to five years in prison for orchestrating a retail theft ring that stole millions in beauty products from Ulta Beauty, Sephora, and other retailers. She must pay $3 million in restitution. The crime ring, which operated across at least twelve states, involved recruiting young women to steal items for resale on Amazon. Mack’s Bonsall mansion, sold for $2.35 million, will contribute to the restitution after bank debts are cleared. The remaining amount will be paid over time by Mack and her husband, Kenneth. The operation led to an estimated $8 million in stolen goods. Despite the significant restitution, experts note that such payments rarely cover the full loss for retailers and can take years to be fully compensated.
