91,000 Child Abuse Videos Seized: Inside Europol’s Largest CSAM Operation

Europol dismantled a major dark web pedophile network, KidFlix, in what has been described as their largest child sexual exploitation operation to date. Launched in 2021, KidFlix offered free access to low-quality child sex abuse material (CSAM) videos, with higher-resolution content available through credits earned via cryptocurrency payments, uploading CSAM, or other tasks. The operation, named Operation Stream, led to the seizure of servers containing 91,000 unique CSAM videos, many previously unknown to law enforcement. The effort involved law enforcement from over 35 countries. As a result, nearly 1,400 suspected CSAM consumers were identified from 1.8 million global users, with 79 arrests made so far. The operation also protected 39 child victims and led to the seizure of over 3,000 devices. Suspects were traced through payment data, despite attempts to use cryptocurrencies for anonymity.
