Statistics show that 70% of Americans do not trust corporate media to report news accurately, fairly, or fully. In June 2020, a foreign group attempted to demonetize The Federalist after it critiqued media coverage of the Black Lives Matter riots. These riots resulted in over $2 billion in insurance claims, marking them as the costliest civil disorder in U.S. history. In April 2023, a House subcommittee report revealed that Stanford University, in collaboration with government entities, pressured social media companies to censor content labeled as disinformation. This included true information, jokes, satire, and political reporting. One censored post was a victory message from Senator Tom Tillis. Blacklists and censorship tools from organizations like NewsGuard and the Global Disinformation Index often favor left-wing media, while publications like The Washington Post and New York Times, which received Pulitzers for their coverage of the Russia collusion hoax, are rated highly.
