In the upcoming NCAA Men’s basketball tournament, detailed projections have been made for each team’s performance. These projections are based on offensive and defensive metrics from box scores. They estimate the number of points a team would score and allow against an average opponent on a neutral court. Each team’s probability of winning a specific game is adjusted according to the opponent, location, and team health. The projections are used to simulate the tournament 200,000 times. From these simulations, the frequency of a team reaching each round and winning the championship is calculated. For instance, a team with a 10 percent chance of reaching the Final Four has achieved this milestone in 10 percent of the simulations.
