Franklin Templeton has launched the Franklin OnChain U.S. Government Money Fund in Luxembourg, marking the first fully tokenized U.S. Treasury fund available to European institutional investors. This fund, which uses blockchain technology for share recording and transfer, enhances efficiency, transparency, and security. It’s accessible on the Stellar Lumens network (XLM) in several European countries. The U.S. version of the fund, launched in 2021, has amassed over $580 million in assets. Tokenized U.S. Treasuries have become a $4 billion asset class this year. Franklin Templeton pioneered this approach among traditional financial institutions, with their fund being the third largest by assets under management, following Hashnote’s USYC and BUIDL by BlackRock and Securitize.
