A recent deal between AI infrastructure firm CoreWeave and bitcoin miner Core Scientific has set a valuation floor of $20.40 per share for the mining stock, according to JPMorgan analysts Reginald Smith and Charles Pearce. The all-stock transaction values Core Scientific at approximately $20.40 per share, based on recent closing prices. Interestingly, Core Scientific closed at around a 25% discount to the deal terms the day the takeover was announced, which seems reasonable given the year-end projected close.
The analysts noted that this sale is unlikely to be replicated, citing the unique terms and purchase price of the deal. The valuation floor set by this transaction could have implications for other bitcoin mining stocks in the future.
