In China, the landscape of artificial intelligence has shifted dramatically. Last year, the country experienced a surge in foundation models, the large language models driving the AI revolution. This year, the focus has pivoted to AI agents. These systems are designed to autonomously perform tasks for users, such as answering emails, planning vacations, and designing websites. The trend was sparked by Manus, a general AI agent that caused a social media frenzy for invite codes following its limited-release launch in early March. Since then, numerous startups have emerged, with 90% of them launching in the last two months alone. Both startups and established tech giants are now experimenting with these tools to determine their practical applications and target audiences.
