59% of Americans Have Lent Money to Friends or Family, But What Happens Next?

In a recent podcast episode, Kristin Davis, known for her role as Charlotte York in “Sex and the City,” shared a personal anecdote about lending money. Davis, 59, recounted lending $5,000 to an out-of-work actor she was dating before her rise to fame. This actor, now successful, had faced financial difficulties, including notices to cut off his electricity and a wrecked motorcycle. After lending him the money, he ghosted her, leading to an awkward confrontation at his apartment. Davis reflected on this as a “horrible mistake” and advised against lending money in similar situations. Interestingly, 59% of Americans have lent money to friends or family, according to a recent survey, highlighting the commonality of such financial interactions. Davis, who remains single and a mother to two adopted children, continues to portray Charlotte, now married to Harry Goldenblatt in the series’ reboot, “And Just Like That,” which is set to premiere its third season later this year.
