40% Bot Invasion: Epic Games Cancels Fortnite Tournaments in OCE and ASIA

Epic Games canceled the Fortnite Reload Performance Evaluation Cup in Oceania and Asia due to a bug causing bots to fill up to 40% of the lobbies. The issue was announced on April 9, 2025, via the official Fortnite Status account on X. The tournaments, which typically feature 40 players in squads on a smaller map, were halted to address the bot problem. If unresolved, similar issues could affect upcoming European and North American cups. It remains uncertain whether the canceled tournaments will be rescheduled. The Fortnite Reload mode includes a unique reboot mechanic, allowing eliminated teams to respawn if a squad member survives, though this feature is disabled near match end. The Performance Evaluation Cup, less grand than FNCS 2025 tournaments, offers a smaller prize pool and focuses on monitoring game performance for future improvements. Data from these events aids in enhancing in-game events and potential esports scenes. Teams earn points based on placements and eliminations, with the top four teams winning $800 each. This is not the first issue; a previous tournament was canceled on November 4, 2024, due to map merging problems.
