4 Companies Secure EU Crypto Licenses: A Game-Changer for Crypto Trading

Four digital asset companies, MoonPay, BitStaete, ZBD, and Hidden Road, have been granted the Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) licenses by the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM). This license allows them to operate across the entire 27-nation European Union. The MiCA framework, which requires firms to obtain a Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP) license from one member state, was set to be implemented by December 30, 2024. However, not all EU countries have met this deadline. The licenses are pivotal for the European digital asset industry, enabling these companies to provide services like crypto trading, management, and clearing. Meanwhile, Socios.com received a class 3 Virtual Financial Assets Act license from Malta, and the U.K. added GSR Markets to its crypto register. These developments signal a significant regulatory shift in the crypto landscape, potentially affecting market dynamics and investor confidence.
