Amid the devastating wildfires in Southern California, law enforcement has been busy. The Los Angeles Police Department arrested two individuals at Vice President Kamala Harris’ Brentwood home at 4:40am on Saturday. Although they couldn’t prove burglary, the suspects were detained for violating a curfew set from 6pm to 6am in evacuation zones. Since the fires began, 29 arrests have been made across the affected areas for various violations including burglary and curfew breaking. The fires, fueled by a destructive windstorm, have spread across Pacific Palisades, Eaton Canyon, Malibu, and the Hollywood Hills. As of Sunday, the death toll stands at 14, with 16 missing persons reports filed. Over 105,000 people have been ordered to evacuate, with an additional 87,000 under evacuation warnings. President Joe Biden declared the fires a major disaster, ensuring federal coverage for 100% of disaster assistance costs.
