The United Kingdom’s asylum system is facing a crisis, with a staggering 21% of claims being rejected in the past year alone. According to official statistics, this translates to over 12,000 individuals having their applications denied. The most common reason for rejection was deemed “not credible” or “insufficient evidence,” with 44% of cases falling into this category.
In 2018, a refugee named Miguel applied for asylum in the UK, citing threats from gangs in his home country. Despite being stuck in limbo for seven years, his case remains unresolved. This is not an isolated incident; many asylum seekers face lengthy delays and uncertainty as they navigate the complex system.
The statistics paint a concerning picture: 62% of asylum claims are still pending after six months, while 27% take over a year to resolve. The UK’s Home Office has faced criticism for its handling of asylum cases, with some arguing that the system is overly reliant on outdated technology and inadequate resources.

So apparently there’s thousands of asylum seekers who’ve had their claims dismissed
Yet they are then allowed to appeal
Which can take a year and they have another year + in hotels with all the freebies
I’m so furious at the spineless attitude of this country

80% of all asylum applicants are failing their asylum application.
Yet 15% of all hotels outside the M50 are contracted to the government to house them.
This has led to a collapse in tourism numbers, hurting family incomes.

She’s talking out of her arse about the two party’s policies as well. It’s not been detain/deport or detain/offshore/deport at all. If only….
Britain accepts 69% of asylum applications at 1st application/subsequent 1st appeal of rejections

80% of asylum claims are rejected. Take many months to process. Meanwhile the tax payer foots the bill. You clearly don’t understand that the Irish taxpayers is being scammed and Ireland is known to be a soft touch.

The fact is that asylum claims are effectively just waved through. The system is broken and the legal test is poor. The bar for granting a claim is set ridiculously low
