$1.4 Trillion Market: LGBTQ+ Travel Trends Revealed

The global LGBTQ+ travel market is expected to reach $296.8 billion in 2023, with a projected doubling by 2033. This massive market has significant implications for the tourism industry. However, international visitors are rethinking their trips to the United States due to tariffs and anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric, resulting in a 10% drop in air travel and 14% overall decline in March.

Despite these challenges, some Pride events have seen an increase in attendance. For example, Phoenix Pride’s Rainbows Festival drew 33,000 attendees, up from 28,000 the previous year. Similarly, Salt Lake City Pride saw a significant jump to 17,000 attendees, up from 10,000 previously.

These statistics highlight the importance of understanding and catering to the LGBTQ+ travel market. With its massive purchasing power, this demographic is an attractive target for tourism boards and businesses looking to capitalize on the growing trend.
