Playstack targeted streamers, starting with 300 smaller ones, which led to significant word-of-mouth and community building. The demo of Balatro attracted 100,000 downloads, with thousands of players spending six to eight hours on it. This data helped Playstack pitch the game to media outlets effectively. Originally, Playstack expected Balatro to reach six-figure sales, but the game far exceeded these projections, showcasing the success of their marketing approach.
