Crypto trading firm Wintermute predicts a deeper integration of cryptocurrencies into traditional finance (TradFi) through ETFs and corporate holdings in 2025. They anticipate a significant corporate event, like an acquisition or merger, to be settled in stablecoins. This follows a year where over-the-counter (OTC) trading volumes more than tripled, with an average trade size increasing by 17% and total volume by 313%. Derivatives volumes also grew by over 300%, driven by institutions seeking sophisticated yield and risk management tools. Wintermute noted a record-breaking single-day OTC volume of $2.24 billion, surpassing 2023’s weekly record. Memecoins saw their market share more than double to 16%, primarily within the Solana ecosystem. Wintermute predicts that China, UAE, and Europe might follow the U.S. in establishing a Bitcoin strategic reserve.
